Irish Research – Guidelines
Open the file *.pdf file opposite for a list of very useful Irish research websites. Note that this list is not complete, but it will be a good foundation for your research.
Remember that your family research is unique to you and your siblings. You are following a trail laid down by your ancestors. Do not forget the principle - work from the known to the unknown. Talk to all your relatives, young as well as old. Check what you are told with the official records- both church and legal. There will be discrepancies and errors, but until you research the actual records, you will not discover the truth. AND..... Remember that there are some errors in the 'official' records Do not rely totally on the information on the many internet family history files. Compared with the way we researched only twenty years ago, there are many online aids .... but use them wilh caution. And Good Luck! |
